Art contest announced for 2023 AMCOP at UW Stevens Point

1st Annual AMCOP Art Contest

Instructions: Artists should submit their entries at the registration desk when they check in, but no later than noon on Friday.

Rules: Artists can enter items of any type of media but need to incorporate parasitology related content. The contest will consist of four categories based on taxonomic group of the parasite content (Helminths, Arthropods, Protozoa or Diversity (multiple types of parasites)). Artists will be asked to identify which category best fits their entry. There is no limit to the number of entries an artist can submit in any category.

Logistics: Entries will be given a number and artists will not be identified to the voters. Entries will be displayed during breaks and poster session. Voting will conclude at the end of the poster session to allow votes to be tallied and winners announced at the business meeting. Artists can choose to pick up their items at the end of the poster session or leave them on display until the conclusion of the business meeting.

Judging: All registered attendees will be given four entry forms one for each category in their registration packet. Attendees will write the entry number of their choice of best entry for that category and place it into the corresponding voting box. Entries will be counted by volunteers who are not participating in the contest and will also be blind to the artist identity. The results presented to the presiding officer for announcement at the business meeting.

Awards: For each category with at least two entries there will be a Highest Honors winner determined based on the highest vote count. Certificates will be given for highest honors winners. Depending on the numbers of entries and any ties there could be multiple winners within a category or Honorable Mentions awarded.
